A walk down the runway. . .
One of my favorite indulgences is watching Project Runway. It was one of the inspirations for my book. I love watching the creativity of the designers and how a simple piece of fabric can be transformed into a beautiful garment. When you think about it, our faith works the same way. God is the ultimate designer of our hearts. He is not concerned so much with what we wear on the outside but what’s draping our hearts on the inside. We can be influenced by worldly negative perceptions of beauty or we can choose to see ourselves as our creator does; beautiful and “all dressed up” in His love, purity, and truth. It sounds easy, but as with making a dress from a few yards of fabric, it’s not always a simple process. So, how do we do it? We do it by having a renewed mind, abiding in the truth of God’s word, and putting on the garment of praise and gratitude. There will always be days when we don’t feel or look our best; but, when we begin to focus our faith on God and allow Him to cloth us in His perfect love, we can confidently walk this runway we call life!
Proverbs 31:25 (NIV)
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
